Helpful hints:
If you plan to drive or use someone else's auto, truck, trailer or boat in Mexico, make sure you take along a separate notarized authorization for your use referencing each title, written in both English and Spanish.
If you cancel your travel, make sure you also cancel your Mexico insurance policies before the effective dates.
For just a few dollars you can cover the possibility of staying an extra day or two in your original policy issuance. Otherwise, to obtain insurance coverage for an extra day, you would need to purchase an entirely new and separate policy for each car, truck, trailer or boat at nearly the original cost, just to cover an extra day.
In the event that you are in a motor vehicle or boating accident or otherwise suffer a loss while in Mexico, your first report of the loss must be made directly to the respective Mexican insurance company while you are in Mexico.
Always keep two or three copies of your Mexican insurance policies in separate locations and leave a copy with someone in the USA who can fax you a copy if needed.
Boats require two separate policies, one for the boat in transit and one for the use of the boat in Mexican waters.
